Silver Cross Clic vs. Silver Cross Jet 5 | Travel Stroller Comparison

Kyleyn Gosewisch

Travel strollers are designed with busy families in mind—lightweight, compact, and incredibly convenient. Whether you're catching a flight, weaving through crowded city streets, or simply need an easy stroller to keep in the car for errands, travel strollers offer a practical solution without compromising on comfort or style. Many models are even small enough to bring on board as carry-on luggage, making them perfect as a second stroller or an everyday grab-and-go option.

Silver Cross and the Rise of the Travel Stroller

Silver Cross has been a trusted name in baby gear for over 140 years, known for combining timeless style with modern innovation. While their heritage is rooted in classic prams, Silver Cross has continued to evolve with the needs of today’s families—offering everything from full-size luxury strollers to ultra-compact travel options. In 2020, they introduced their first travel stroller, the Silver Cross Jet, designed to meet airline cabin requirements while still offering the comfort and quality parents expect from the brand. But travel strollers like the Jet series aren't just for air travel—they're perfect as everyday "car strollers" too. Lightweight, easy to fold, and quick to grab for errands, appointments, or spontaneous outings, travel strollers have become a must-have for parents who want convenience without compromise!

Now, Silver Cross is expanding their travel stroller lineup with the all-new Clic. Read on to explore the similarities and differences between the Clic and Jet 5 travel models:

Silver Cross Clic

The Silver Cross Clic is a fresh and exciting addition to the travel stroller market. Lightweight at just 13.2 pounds, it’s designed for ultimate portability without compromising on features. The Clic includes a bumper bar, which doubles as a built-in car seat adapter for Nuna and Joie seats, instantly turning it into a convenient travel system. With a fully lie-flat seat, it’s newborn-ready and ideal for everyday use or as your go-to "car stroller." A one-hand fold, carry strap, and overhead bin–approved size make the Clic a smart, stylish companion for families on the go.

Lightweight, compact, and cabin-approved, the Jet 5 is a sustainable travel stroller that supports your child from birth up to 55 pounds. It’s even car seat compatible for smooth transitions from car to stroll. The Jet 5 folds down effortlessly into a protective travel cover and meets most airline luggage requirements—meaning you can roll it right up to the gate and stow it in the overhead bin. With its sleek design, thoughtful features, and smooth maneuverability, the Jet 5 is your ultimate companion for everything from airport terminals to busy city streets.

What Travel Stroller Can Be Used From Birth?

Many travel strollers sold in the United States are not suitable for newborns unless you add accessories like car seat adapters or a bassinet. Silver Cross understands that parents want something simpler, especially when they are on the move.

Both the Silver Cross Clic and Jet 5 are designed to be used from birth without any added attachments. The seats on both models recline fully into a lie-flat position, making them newborn-ready straight out of the box. This flat recline is the safest option for newborns, offering proper support for their developing spine, neck, and back.

There are three ways to safely stroll with a newborn:

  • Attach an infant car seat (ideal for short outings) - both strollers can achieve this with the Clic not even needing car seat adapters!

  • Use a stroller with a fully flat, newborn-approved recline - both strollers have a fully lie-flat seat!

  • Pair the stroller with a compatible bassinet or carrycot - neither stroller currently offers a bassinet.

How Does Each Stroller Become a "Travel System"?

If you're expecting and looking for a stroller that works from day one, both the Silver Cross Clic and Jet 5 are excellent choices. Each model can hold an infant car seat, turning it into a convenient travel system. This feature is ideal for busy families who need a stroller that can easily transition between car rides and daily outings.

Helpful tip: For families who are always on the move, a compact and lightweight stroller is a must. These strollers are easier to carry, store, and grab quickly for errands or appointments.

The Silver Cross Clic does not require any adapters. Select infant car seats from Nuna and Joie can attach directly to the included bumper bar.

The Jet 5 offers a bit more flexibility, with separately sold car seat adapters that work with a variety of leading brands. This gives parents more choices when selecting the car seat that fits their needs.

What Stroller is Better For Taller Toddlers?

Both the Silver Cross Clic and Jet 5 are designed to accommodate children up to 55 pounds. However, their seat dimensions are slightly different. The Clic has a slight advantage, offering an extra inch of seat back height and a bit more headroom before a child reaches the canopy. While an inch may not sound like much, it can make a noticeable difference, especially as toddlers grow.

Are These Travel Strollers Practical for Everyday Use?

While the Silver Cross Clic and Jet 5 are designed as travel strollers, they’re more than capable of handling daily life. Lightweight, compact, and easy to maneuver, both make excellent "car strollers"—perfect for errands, quick trips, and spontaneous outings. Their small fold means they store easily in your trunk, closet, or entryway without taking up much space.

So, how do they compare to full-size strollers? Travel strollers generally lack features like a reversible seat, extra-large storage basket, or rugged wheels made for uneven terrain. They also tend to offer fewer accessories. That’s why many parents choose to use a travel stroller as a secondary option, keeping it handy for when convenience and portability are top priority.

That said, some families find they don’t need all the bells and whistles of a full-size stroller. In that case, a travel stroller like the Clic or Jet 5 can absolutely serve as your everyday go-to.

What Stroller is Better for Travel?

Both the Silver Cross Clic and Jet 5 are thoughtfully designed to make travel with a baby or toddler as smooth as possible. Lightweight and compact, both are cabin-approved and fold down small enough to fit in most overhead bins—perfect for plane rides, road trips, or even just hopping in and out of the car.

The Jet 5 folds down to a compact size and includes a protective travel cover and a convenient trolley mode, allowing you to roll it like a suitcase through airports or stations. This feature can be especially helpful when navigating longer distances with luggage in tow.

The Clic, while it doesn’t have trolley mode, folds in one quick motion and features an integrated shoulder strap—perfect for carrying over your shoulder when you need your hands free. Its simplified fold is great for families who prioritize fast and fuss-free transitions.

Whether you prefer the Jet 5’s roll-along convenience or the Clic’s grab-and-go ease, both models offer travel-friendly solutions to keep your journey smooth and stress-free!

What Travel Stroller is the Best Overall: Silver Cross Clic or Silver Cross Jet 5

When it comes to choosing the best overall travel stroller between the Silver Cross Clic and Jet 5, it really depends on what features matter most to your lifestyle. Both models offer newborn-ready, lie-flat seats; compact, airline-approved folds; and stylish, thoughtful design details that make traveling with a baby easier and more enjoyable.

The Clic is a fantastic grab-and-go option for everyday errands and quick outings. It’s slightly lighter than the Jet 5, offers a simple one-hand fold, and doesn’t require adapters for compatible car seats—it clicks right onto the bumper bar. Its straightforward fold and portability make it ideal as a “car stroller” or secondary stroller for families who want convenience without sacrificing comfort.

On the other hand, the Jet 5 includes premium travel-focused features like a trolley mode for rolling it through airports, a protective travel cover, and slightly larger wheels for smoother strolling. While the fold is a bit more involved than the Clic, the Jet 5 offers a refined travel experience, especially for frequent flyers.

In the end, both strollers are excellent choices—the Clic may be better for everyday convenience, while the Jet 5 may shine for frequent travelers who want a little extra polish and functionality.
